The animals are, without a doubt, our greatest concern, their welfare is our priority. Subaida is home to a large number of animals, both native and foreign, which transmit to the visitor the richness of the rural world and the splendour of contact with nature.
We currently have two breeds of cows on the farm:
The Friesian cow of Dutch origin, the typical black and white cow we all know. Its high milk production makes it the ideal breed for making the large number of cheeses that are produced at Subaida.
The ‘Vermella’ cow of the Menorcan breed, of red clay colour, is smaller in size and produces more fatty milk. They are suckler cows.
Enjoying the 200 hectares of forest in Subaida, among the holm oaks, the king of the house leaves his mark: the black pig (of Mallorcan origin); it roams free, feeding on acorns and whey, which guarantees the production of the best Menorcan sausages.
There is nothing more deeply rooted in the island of Menorca than its tradition and vocation for horses. At Subaida you will be able to meet a specimen of the Pura Raza Menorquina horse, which may sporadically surprise you on one of your visits to the farm, with a small sample of the most authentic Menorcan tradition. You will also be able to meet our Pura Raza Española mare, always accompanied by 4 friendly donkeys rescued from an abandoned animal shelter. And the miniature version of our stallion: two miniature black-coated ponies that will bring a smile to the faces of the little ones.
For many years now we have had a family of dwarf goats, always accompanied by a newborn kid, so that the little ones can enjoy feeding them and feeling this connection with nature, which is unique to our farm.
We have a small henhouse with some feathered animals, mostly laying hens, although there are hens from other countries that give a picturesque touch to our henhouse, and you will love to meet the most autochthonous ones: the hens and the Minorcan breed of rooster.
Our latest addition to Subaida. A novelty for those of you who already know us. We have set up a large space where you can watch our small flock of sheep running around to enjoy, even more if possible, this rural experience that we offer you.
Because Subaida is just that, a rural farm where tradition and nature merge to guarantee you a unique experience.
